I was thinking perhaps that the Weeknd's movements represent a timeline of the world from 2012 to the present. The precipice of the D represents the present: uncertain and unstable. The final scene is the future she envisions, where she and the world are happy together and they lie in paradise, in think that may have been the message, i may be overanalysing, but this is the way I interpreted it :)
